  PART IV - Breathing Loop

WARNING! This website is NOT meant to be a pattern for building a rebreather, nor instruction in how to use one. IF you would like to dive a rebreather please obtain the proper training first (find an instructor, mentor etc..) Rebreathers have several ways they can kill you beyond what you were trained for in your Open Circuit Scuba training. If you are just curious I highly recommend "Mastering Rebreathers" by Jeff Bozanic as a good book to understand the basics.

---------------------------------------------

While the breathing loop also consists of much more (Counter Lungs, DSV/BOV, etc..) This is for detailing my progress in the breathing hose and various attachment points to the cannister, counter lungs and BOV.

Progress: Breathing hoses have been ordered from Golem Gear and should be arriving this week. I ordered 2 sets of 11" and 13" hoses, with 1.5" inner diameter. I am trying to keep the entire loop as close to 1.5" as possible. The only variations are where connections must be made, and even then the constrictions will be limited to 1.25" minimum.

Fittings: I am debating fabricating screw down fittings at each point of contact between the breathing hose and other componenets, but may simply opt for SS pipe clamps till I am sure this project will meet with expectations.

UPDATES:

05-02-08: Hoses arrived from Golem Gear today - unexpectedly I found out I'd ordered 2x as many as necessary ... I like the lenths, they appear to be just right.
