  PART III - Cannister

WARNING! This website is NOT meant to be a pattern for building a rebreather, nor instruction in how to use one. IF you would like to dive a rebreather please obtain the proper training first (find an instructor, mentor etc..) Rebreathers have several ways they can kill you beyond what you were trained for in your Open Circuit Scuba training. If you are just curious I highly recommend "Mastering Rebreathers" by Jeff Bozanic as a good book to understand the basics.

Progress: Still researching materials. I am leaning toward an 6" acrylic cannister 18" in length with a base and top made from UHMW polyethylene. Attachment between parts will most likely be via locking Neilson catches (as used frequently on Cannister lights and DPV bodies) and sealing via a large face sealing O-ring and an inner bore O-ring seal. (Depends upon the tolerances of the wall material)

CMF Valve: Planning on using an orofice and capping the ambient pressure chamber of a new beuchat 1st stage regulator I got a good deal on for this project. The Orofice will be fed directly into the cannister from the exhalation side of the loop, so that it will hopefully mix well before being read by the O2 Sensors on the inhalation side.

UPDATE:

05-02-08: O2 Regulator arrived today - next step is capping the ambient pressure chamber.
